"Mrs. Patrick Rowan Dead-Lonaconing, Md., July 8-Mrs. Monica Rowan, wife of Patrick 
Rowan, aged resident, died last night at 12 o'clock at her home on Island street, 
following a long illness. Mrs. Rowan had been in a serious condition for three months. 
She was born in Ireland and came to this country at the age of 17. She settled in 
Lonaconing where she spent practically her whole life. She was a devoted member of St. 
Mary's Catholic Church. She is survived by three children: Joseph Rowan, Bridgeport, 
Connecticut; John Rowan, Detroit, Mich.,; and Mrs. Mary Nolan, Lonaconing. Two sisters 
also survive: Mrs. Patrick Barry, this place, and Mrs. Kate Cosgrove, Lonaconing."
