"Evening Times" Cumberland, Maryland, Wed 6 Sep 1967: 
"Mrs. Catherine Ryan, a former resident of Luke, died Monday in Casualty Hospital, 
Washington, where she had been a patient since she fractured her hip at home two weeks 
ago. A native of Westernport, she was a daughter of Mrs. Mary L. Cosgrove, and the late 
Michael P. Cosgrove, and was the widow of James Ryan. She was a graduate of St. Peter's 
School in Westernport and of Catherman's Business School. Besides her mother, she is 
survived by a son, Joseph Ryan, Philadelphia; two daughters, Miss Ella Marice Ryan, 
Washington, and Mrs. Mary Loretto (sic-should be Loretta) Wooten, Cleveland; three 
sisters, Mrs. Marie Cross, Washington; Sister Marie Joseph, Sisters of St. Joseph, 
Baltimore, and Mrs. Veronica Nofsinger, Luke; three brothers, Francis B. Cosgrove, 
Westernport; Emmett Cosgrove, Cumberland, and Robert Cosgrove, address unknown, and 12 
grandchildren. Requiem mass will be celebrated Thursday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic 
Church in Washington. Interment will follow in the afternoon at St. Peter's Cemetery, 
Westernport."
