Va., into death of Ira J. (sic) Ryan, 58, of Franklin, who died Saturday night in Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W. Va. of bullet wounds. A member of a Piedmont wholesale produce firm, Ryan was found slumped over his office desk by a driver for the firm, Calvin Shingler. A .32 calibre revolver was found on the floor near him. An autopsy yesterday showed two bullets were fired. One entered the front of the forehead and came out the right side near his ear. The other entered at the right side of his of his head and lodged in his head. Ryan, who had been employed as a salesman for the past 30 years, was born in Barton, and had resided in the Tri-Towns for 40 years. He was active in community affairs and was president of the Tri-Towns Male Chorus which recently disbanded. A member of Keyser Presbyterian Church, he is survived by his widow, Mary (Dailey) Ryan; a daughter, Mrs. Edmund Niland, Piedmont; three sons, Leo, Richard and Michael Emmet Ryan, Westernport; two brothers, John and Leo Ryan, Pittsburgh; four sisters, Mrs. Stella Hughes, Mrs. Arthur Wilt, Miss Elizabeth Ryan and Miss Leona Ryan, all of the Tri-Towns, and six grandsons. A funeral service will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the residence, with Rev. Robert Campbell, pastor of Piedmont Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Philos Cemetery." "Sunday Times" Cumberland, Maryland, Sun 1 Jul 1951: " Coroner Announces Verdict Keyser, W. Va., June 30The coroner's jury investigating the death of Ira T. Ryan, 58, of Franklin, Md., who died in Potomac Valley Hospital last Saturday from gunshot wounds of the head, returned a verdict of death due to self- inflicted gunshot wound with a .32 caliber revolver.
