The Frostburg Fraternal Order of Eagles, of which Mr. Scally is president, held a smoker in their rooms in the Shea building last evening, it being the tenth anniversary of the order. Mr. Scully, with several other members, worked in the kitchen all evening cooking oysters and preparing lunches for the members present. At 12 o'clock, Mr. Scally, in company with Bernard Hughes and Geo. Lewis, started for his home. To have better walking they got out in the car track and started down Main strteet. When opposite Hitchin Bros. Store, Mr. Scally fell, striking his right side on the car rail. As stated above, Mr. Scally had been assisting in the kitchen during the evening and had taken a large carving knife from his home to use and he had this knife in his right coat pocket and in falling, the knife entered his right side, inflicting a wound about 7 inches deep. After falling, Mr. Scally got to his feet and started to go down the street when he discovered he had been injured and told his companions he had been cut with the knife. They at once assisted him back to the Eagles IOOF where everything possible was done for him. Drs. Donnolly and Price were called immediately and did all in their power to save his life, but after lingering for about an hour hed died. Father Nolan, assistant pastor of the Catholic church, was sent for and did all he could to make his last moments peaceful. Mr. Scall was well known all over the county, having been employed for a number of years by the C. & P. R. R. Co. and the U. S. Express Co., at Frostburg. For the last few years he has worked at the carpenter trade and worked onn the new Maryland Theatre in Cumberland until completed. Mr. Scally's death has cast a gloom over the while community as he was a man of good habits and a general favorite. He leaves a wife and a large family of grown children. The funeral, which will be held under the auspices of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, has not been arranged yet. The deceased was a brother of Messrs. Peter Scally, of Midland, and John Scally, of Frostburg, and the family has beenn well known and highly respected in the county for years."."
