Shimer, 77, of 124 Green Street, Westernport, died today in the Pulliam Nursing Home, Keyser, where he had been a patient for four months. He had suffered a paralytic stroke one year ago. Born in Lonaconing, he was a son of the late Henry C. and Mary (Ayers) Shimer. He was a lifelong resident of Allegany County. Formerly employed at the Luke Plant of the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company, he had retired in 1951. Surviving, in addition to his widow, Mrs. Nellie (Brant) Shimer, are two sons, Chester W. Shimer, Westernport; James A. Shimer, with the U.S. Navy at Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Braithwaite, Dundalk; four sisters, Mrs. Daisy Beeman, Pontiac, Mich.; Mrs. Laura Ross, Shaft; Mrs. Mary Goodwin, Frostburg; Mrs. Ida R. Robertson, Washington Pa.; one brothers, Cleveland Shimer, Eckhart; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. The body is at the Boal Funeral Home where friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. A services will be conducted Friday a 2 p.m. by Mr. Kenneth Clary.
