Benjamin W. Smith, 49, of 209 Bedford Street, died last night at Memorial 
Hospital.  He had been a patient six days.  A native of Harrisonburg, Va., he 
was a son of Gidon Smith and the late Mrs. Amanda (Crider) Smith.  He was a 
member of the United Brethren Church of Harrisonburg.  Besides his father, he 
is survived by three brothers, John Smith, Spring Gap; Hobart Smith, 
Baltimore, and Samson Smith, this city; and five sisters, Mrs. Loy Moyer, 
Washington; Mrs. Lester Valentine, North Branch; Mrs. Robert Nazelrod, 
Bowman's Addition; Mrs. Mack Koontz, Harrisburg, Pa., and Mrs. Vernon Bell, 
Flintstone.  The body will remain at the Hafer Funeral Home where services 
will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Arthur Scrogum, pastor of the 
Living Stone Church of the Brethren.  Interment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery 
at Spring Gap.
