Death was due to infirmities of age. Mr. Stakem came to this country in 1879 and for the past 40 years conducted a meat market in Midland. In 1873 he married Miss Bridget Burns, of Midland. Mrs. Stakem died a year ago. Mr. Stakem was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Midland, and was prominently identified with the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Mr. Stakem was a public spirited man and contributed much toward the upbuilding of his community. He is survived by six daughters, and two sons: Misses Catherine, Mary, Bessie, Agnes and Mrs. James Campbell and Mrs. John Devlin, James Paul Stakem, and Miles J. Stakem. The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning from St. Joseph's Catholic Church with high requiem mass. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Frostburg."
