Born in Piedmont, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Graney, she resided here more than 50 years. Her husband, Richard Stakem, preceded her in death. Mrs. Stakem was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Lonaconing Homemaker's Club and the Auxiliary of the Good Will Volunteer Fire Co., and was active in Red Cross and civic affairs. Surviving are five sons: Patrick and Frank Stakem, both of Lonaconing; Richard Stakem, Westernport; and Isaac and John Stakem, both of Midland; four daughters, Mrs. Rose Ryan, Akron; Mrs. Leona Duckworth, Lonaconing; Mrs. Winifred Twigg, Frostburg; and Miss Marguerite Stakem, at home; a sister, Mrs. Katherine Thompson, Chambersburg, Pa.; 17 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. The body is at the residence. A solemn requiem mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church and interment will be in the parish cemetery."
