"Evening Times" Cumberland, Maryland, 24 Apr 1945: "
Killed-T 5 William J. Stakem, 40, of Lonaconing, in New Caledonia, April 
21.T 5 Stakem was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Stakem, of Lonaconing. A 
War Department official stated that he died in New Caledonia but did not 
indicate the manner of his death. He had been in the Army almost three 
years and on overseas duty two years. T 5 Stakem was the brother of Mrs. 
Alice Nelson, of Cumberland, and Mrs. Agnes Ratigan, of Mount Savage."
