"The Cumberland News" Cumberland, Maryland, Sat 15 May 1976: "
Frostburg-Lawrence V. Stanton, 67, of 56 Green Street, died yesterday at Sacred Heart 
Hospital where he head been admitted Wednesday. He had been in failing health the past 
five years. Born here, he was a son of the late Patrick J. and Catherine (Connelly) 
Stanton. He was a retired Frostburg City Water Department employe and a member of St. 
Michael's Catholic Church. Surviving are his widow, Carmela (Arnone) Stanton; four 
daughters, Mrs. Catherine Crowe, Silver Spring; Mrs. Mary Mellory, Washington; Mrs. 
Francis Ricco, Waldorf, and Mrs. Sharon Christner, Severn; a son, Robert Stanton, 
Columbia, S.C.; two brothers, Joseph Stanton, Bantam, Conn., and Harold Stanton, 
Ansted, W. Va.; a sister, Mrs. LaVern Cross, Frostburg, and eight grandchildren. The 
body will be at the Durst Funeral Home..The family suggests expressions of sympathy 
take the form of memorials to the American Cancer Society."
