Mr. Steele was working with his brother and two other miners who were uninjured. He was badly crushed about the head. His body was removed from the debris in a short time. Steele's father was working in another part of the mine. An investigation of the mishap was made by State Mine Inspector Frank W. Powers, Frostburg. The young miner was a member of the Junior Order United American Mechanics and the First Methodist Episcopal Church. He sang in the church choir. Besides his parents he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Robert, Andrew, Evelyn, Thomas, Claude, Elizabeth, Leonard, Stewart, Govan and Nova Steele, Mrs. Stanley Lancaster, Lonaconing and Mrs. Margaret Johnson, Pekin."
