Mr. William Stuart Run down By Train Opposite Harper's Ferry. Wife Was Returning to Her Home at Bolivar From a Visit to Her Parents in Cumberland, and Husband Had Gone to Depot to Welcome Her Upon Her Arrival, When Accident Occurred. Mrs. William Stewart (sic) who had been visiting her parents on Bellvue street, this city, left for her home at Bolivar, opposite Harper's Ferry, yesterday afternoon on B. & O. train No. 6, in a happy frame of mind, as her father and mother, Mrs. and Mrs. Levi Decker, were all packed up ready to remove to where Mrs. Steward (sic) lived. As the train which carried Mrs. Stewart (sic) home slowed up at Harper's Ferry, she noticed a crowd of people collected near the station, but she little dreamed what is meant to her until she alighted from the train, when she was informed that her husband had just been killed. Mr. Stewart (sic) who was a prominent liveryman at Bolivar, had started to the station to meet his wife when she arrived. In order to reach the station it was necessary for him to cross a railroad bridge, and upon attempting to do so was run down by B. & O. train No. 55 and almost instantly killed. Mr. Stewart, (sic) who was about forty years of age, when he saw that the train was almost upon him, tried to climb a signal post, but was hurled to his death ere he could do so. Mrs. Stewart (sic) had intended going home on Sunday, but concluded she would remain over until yesterday, as she had neglected buying anything to take home to her four little children, and knew that they would be disappointed, she prolonged her visit for the express purpose of having an opportunity to make some purchases that would gladden the hearts of her little ones. A report reached here today that another member of the family had died very suddenly, but this report could not be verified. Mr. Decker, the father of Mrs. Stewart, (sic) has just been placed upon the retired list of the B. & O. pension department, having reached the age limit. Mr. Decker was in the service of the road 33 years and only missed fourteen days from duty on account of recreation. Mr. and Mrs. Decker were going to spend the remained of their days at Mrs. Stewart's home, and the latter had been here helping her parents to pack up."
