“Phillip A. Thomas, 70, of 13 South Grant Street, died yesterday in Miner’s Hospital. 
He had been in ill health several months. Born in Frostburg, he was a son of the late 
David and Ida (Meyers) Thomas and was a former mine foreman. He was a member of the 
Congregational Church. Surviving are his wife Etta (Snyder) Thomas; two daughters, 
Mrs. Clara Mae Vogtman, here; Mrs. Phyllis Bosely, Baltimore; one sister, Miss Datha 
Thomas, here; one brother, Samuel Thomas, here, and four grandchildren. The body is 
in the Hafer-Sowers Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 
p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.”
