THRUSTON, one of the most highly esteemed citizens of Cumberland, died at his residence on Decatur street, on last Wednesday evening, after an illness of only a few days. He was in the seventy-fifth year of his age. General Thruston was a man widely known and greatly respected throughout this county and State. He was a graduate of West Point Military Academy, and served many years in the regular army, rising from the rank of Lieutenant to that of Colonel. During the late war he was appointed by President Lincoln a Brigadier General of Volunteers, but he did not actively take the field. During the greater portion of his life, he has resided in this city, and was one of our most active and esteemed citizens, enjoying the respect and confidence of the entire community of which he was most eminently worthy. His remains were interred on Thursday last, in Rose Hill Cemetery. Cumberland Daily Times, Feb. 20, 1873 GEN. CHARLES M. THRUSTON, one of the oldest citizens of Cumberland, died at his residence on Decatur street, on Tuesday evening. Deceased was seventy-five years of age, and has filled a prominent place in the history of Cumberland. He was a graduate of West Point, and for a time during the war, held the position of Brigadier General of Volunteers. His funeral will take place to-day at one o'clock. Cumberland Daily Times, Feb. 21, 1873 THE FUNERAL OF GEN. C. M. THRUSTON took place yesterday afternoon from the late residence of the deceased. The procession was quite a large one, and the following gentlemen acted as pall bearers: Dr. S. P. Smith, J. Galloway, Lynn, Geo. Henderson, Jr., Judge Pearre, R. D. Johnson, Wm. O. Sprigg, Alpheus Beall and Joseph Shriver. The remains were interred at Rose Hill Cemetery.
