Dr. H. V. Deming, deputy county medical examiner, issued a verdict of suicide and said the blast from a 12 gauge single barrel shotgun ripped through his heart and lung about 6:45 p. m. State Police, who assisted in the investigation, said Tighe returned home yesterday afternoon from Frostburg where he had purchased an Easter flower for his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth (Davis) Tighe, whom he relieved from duty at the bar. The couple lived in an apartment above the place, located opposite Mcmurdo's Garage. Gave Wife Easter Flower According to Trooper William Baker, Mrs. Tighe reprimanded her husband for buying the flower and said the money could be used for a better purpose. A patron identified as Richard M. Connor, 59, Red Hill, Eckhart, was in the tavern at the time. Connor told police that Mrs. Tighe then left and her husband remarked "Something's going to happen-I'm going to finish it right here.' He also left after he noticed Tighe go into a store room behind the jar and pick up the shotgun. After Connor closed the door and walked a short distance, police were told, he heard a shot and rushed back into the place to find Tighe lying in a pool of blood on the floor in the room. He rushed upstairs and notified the family and Tighe's half-brother, Homer Schriner, along with Walter Brown, proprietor of the place. Relatives called the LaVale substation and First Sgt. W. E. O'Hara and Trooper Baker went to the scene. Was Asthma Sufferer Authorities surmised that Tighe, described as having a "long reach," put the gun muzzle against his left chest and pushed the trigger with a finger. Another gun was found in the room. Dr. Deming said the family told him that the victim had been ill with asthma for some time. Mrs. Tighe reported that she and her husband had no serious arguments, but "just, the usual misunderstandings." Born at Frostburg, Tighe had been employed in the filtration department at he Celanese plant. He resided at Clarysville about two years. Surviving, in addition to his widow, are two children, Robert, 12, and Judy Tighe, 5, at home. He was a son of Mrs. Lena Chambers, Frostburg. The body was taken to the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg."
