She was Mrs. Mary (Berkenbaugh) Walsh, widow of John T. Walsh. Requiem Mass for Mrs. Walsh, who died Tuesday in Maryland General Hospital, Baltimore, will be celebrated tomorrow at 11:30 a. m. in St. Rita's Catholic Church in Baltimore and burial will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery there. Mrs. Walsh was born in Cumberland, the daughter of the late Leopold and Sarah (Rowan). She taught school in this section for ten years before her marriage. Her husband, who died in 1933, was a school teacher and trial magistrate in Lonaconing and also a teacher in Cumberland. Mr. Walsh lost his arm as an infant when shrapnel from Confederate shelling struck the home of his father, Edward Walsh, in Piedmont in May 1864. His sister, Mary, 4, was killed by the shelling. Mrs. Walsh had been living with her daughter, Mrs. Geraldine W. Savage, at 929 North Calvert Street, Baltimore. In addition to Mrs. Savage, Mrs. Walsh is survived by a son, John Walsh, Connellsville, Pa.; two daughters, Mrs. Adele Metz, Lonaconing and Mrs. Jean Dexter, Cherry Run, W. Va."
