Woods, died very suddenly from hemorrhage of the brain. Mr. Woods was born in Ireland in 1846. He came to this country in 1871, locating at Frostburg and later came to Lonaconing, where he since resided. Mr. Woods followed the avocation of a coal miner for many years until a few years ago he established a general merchandising business on a small scale in the property one time owned and occupied by the late David Dick. He was a gentleman of some attainments, being a student pf public events and was a ready debater and close observer. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and had been a prominent figure in the Knights of Labor when that organization flourished in this region. He was a gentleman of modest manners but positive in his opinions and aggressive in any movement in which he was engaged. Some years ago Mr. Woods served in the capacity of Justice of the Peace in District No. 15, Jackson side, and he made a very satisfactory officer. The following sons survive: Terrence and Alex Woods, of Lonaconing; Bernard Woods, of Midland; William Woods, of Hubbard, W. Va.; Patrick Woods, Pittsburgh, Pa.; brothers and sisters, Mr. Thomas Woods, of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Henry Devlin, of Lonaconing, and Mr. Patrick Woods, of Midland. Funeral took place this morning from St. Mary's Catholic church, where services were conducted by Rev. Father Joseph P. Nolan, pastor, and the remains interred in St. Mary's cemetery. The funeral was very largely attended." This file is located at http://files.usgwarchives.net/md/allegany/obits/w/woods-bp.txt
