Miss Bowman, Frostburg Man Married Here
     The marriage of Miss Phyliss Bowman, daughter of Mrs. Bertha Bowman, 720
North Centre Street, and the late Russell P. Bowman, to Gordon Hovatter, son of
Mrs. Conrad Thomas, Frostburg, took place Saturday afternoon in St. Patrick's
Catholic Church.  Rev. Thomas A. Hardesty officiated.
     Miss Elsie Bowman was maid of honor for her sister and Christopher Hovatter
served as best man.  Owen C. Smith, Jr., and Donald Hovatter, brother of the
bridegroom were ushers.
     James Burns played a program of nuptial music preceding the ceremony and
the traditional wedding marches.
     The bride, given to marriage by her uncle, Gilbert Thompson, Frostburg,
wore a white lace gown over satin.  It was street-length with a fitted lace
jacket and she wore a lace Juliet cap trimmed with pearls and carried a nosegay
of white roses.
     The maid of honor was attired in a turquoise silk gown with bolero jacket.
 She wore a matching silk hat and carried a bouquet of yellow roses.
     Mrs. Bowman wore a navy costume with a corsage of Talisman roses, while
Mrs. Thomas wore a brown dress with a corsage of pink roses.
     Following the ceremony a reception was held at the bride's home.
     The bride, a graduate of Allegany High School, is employed in the office of
the Cumberland Brewing Company.  The bridegroom is a senior at Frostburg State
Teachers College.  He served with the Army in England, France and Germany.
