George Pugh, assistant pastor, was celebrant at the nuptial mass which united in marriage Miss Mary Louise Peters, daughter of Mrs. Joseph Peters, of Westernport, and Edward W. Stakem, son of Mrs. Isaac Stakem, Lonaconing. The double ring ceremony was solemnized Saturday at 9.a.m. in St. Peter's Catholic church, Westernport. Preceding the ceremony, a program of nuptial music was presented by Mrs. George Ord, who also played the traditional wedding marches. Robert Fultz, soloist, sang "Panis Angelicus," "Ave Maria" and "O Lord I Am Not Worthy." Given in marriage by her brother, John Peters, the bride was attired in a white strapless gown which was topped with a long sleeved lace jacket with standup collar. She wore a finger-tip veil trimmed with lace and carried a nosegay of white carnations with white streamers. Mrs. Eloise Bryan, of Piedmont, was matron of honor and Isaac Stakem was best man for his brother. Ushers were Joseph Healy, of Piedmont, and William Crable, of Lonaconing. The matron of honor was attired in an aqua gown fashioned with sweetheart neckline and short sleeves. She wore white nylon gloves and an aqua headpiece. Her nosegay was of assorted flowers with pink streamers. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the bride's home. The wedding table was attractively decorated with a three-tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and bridegroom. Mrs. Rita Murphy, of Franklin, presided at the punch bowl. For her going-away costume, Mrs. Stakem chose a lavender dress, black velvet accessories and an orchid corsage. Following a motor trip through neighboring states, the couple will reside in Washington, D.C. The bride is a graduate of St. Peter's high school, Westernport. She attended Catherman's Business school, Cumberland and was formerly employed by the eh Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. Mr. Stakem, a graduate of LaSalle high school, Cumberland, served 18 months in the Army. He attended Frostburg State Teachers college and is now employed at Fort Belvoir, Va."
