These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations. ************************************************************************ Susannah Brandt Wills - Allegany County, Maryland Maryland State Archives - Microfilm CR 29-1 Liber D, Page 315 In the name of God Amen, I Susannah Brandt of Allegany County in the State of Maryland being in good health of body and of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence, do therefore make ordain publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say: First and principally I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God and body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor herein after named and after my debts and funeral charges are paid I devise and bequeath as follows: Item - I devise and bequeath unto Rebecca Rice widow of Solomon Rice all my real and personal estate wheresoever situate for and during her natural life and after the death of the said Rebecca Rice I give devise and bequeath all said real and personal Estate to John F. Rice, Susanna Rice, Andrew Rice, Sarah Rice, Mary A. Rice, Solomon Rice, Jacob Rice, Cristina Rice, Hanna B. Rice, Martha Rice and Benjamin Rice Children of said Rebecca Rice to be equally divided between them share and share alike. And lastly I hereby constitute and appoint John F. Rice Executor of this my last will and testament revoking and annulling all former wills by me heretofore made ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 24th day of October in the year Eighteen hundred and seventy four. Rice the executor named in the aforegoing last will and testament of Susannah Brandt late of Allegany County deceased, and made oath in due form of law that the aforegoing instrument of writing is the true whole last will and testament of Said deceased that hath come to his hands or possession and that he does not know of any other. Test. Jno Rhind, Register State of Maryland Allegany County to wit: On this 16th day of January 1877 came Wm F. Frantz and Eli. Rice two of the subscribing witnesses to the aforegoing last will and testament of Susannah Brandt late of Allegany County deceased and made Oath in due form of law that they did see the testator therein named sign and seal said will that they heard her publish pronounce and declare the same to be her last will and testament that at the time of so doing she was to the best of their Apprehensions of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding capable of executing a valid deed or contract and that they together with James R. Walker the other subscribing witness to said will respectively subscribed their names as witnesses thereto at the request of the testator in her presence and in the presence of each other. Test.
