I James Dawson (of Wm) of Allegany County and State of Maryland, being weak of body but of sound mind and memory and understanding, considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence, do therefore make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say, First, I Will and bequeath my soul unto the hand of Almighty God that gave it and my body to me decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named, whereas touching such worldly Estate as it has pleased God to bless me within this life. First, I Will and bequeath unto my dearly beloved wife, Anne all my real, mixed and personal property, Special debts of which I may die possessed of either in the County above named or elseswhere, to have and to hold as long as she remains my lawful widow, upon those conditions which I here mentioned, that is first to pay every just claim of debt or debts that may come against my estate. Secondly, To pay unto my sons namely John Dawson, Edward Dawson, Abraham Dawson and Davies Dawson seventy five cents each one respectively. Thirdly, I Will and bequeath to my daughter Nancy and my daughter Elizabeth one hundred dollars each one when they arrive at the full age of sixteen years. Fourthly, I will and bequeath unto my Sons Lot Odle Dawson, William Odle Dawson, Thomas Dawson and Theodorus Dawson one hundred dollars each one when they shall come to the full age of twenty one year, to be levied out of my estate at the discretion of my Executors. Fifthly, I constitute and ordain Thomas Dawson (of Wm) and my son John Dawson Executors of this my last will and testament and I do utterly, disallow, revoke and disannul all and any former testaments, wills and legacies, bequeaths and executors by me in any way before named, willed and bequeathed, ratifying and confuting this and none other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this the tenth day of August one thousand eight hundred and sixteen. Sworn before, Charles Neck, Reqistor Allegany County Ss, the 19th day of February 1820. Then came William Dawson, Senior, and Thomas W. Dawson two of the subscribing witnesses to the within last will and testament of James Dawson (of William), late of Allegany County deceased, and severally made oath on the Holy Evangel, of Almighty God that they did see the testator therein named sign and seal this will, and that they heard him publish, pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and testament, that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehension ? of sound and Disposing mind, (unknown word) and understanding and that they respectively subscribe their names as witnesses to this will in the presences and at the request of the testator and in the presence of each other.
