JOHN CHRISTIAN FREDERICK GRIM Wills - Allegany County, Maryland Microfilm C29-1 Liber I, Folio 2 In the name of God Amen, I John Christian Frederick Grim, of Westernport, Allegany County Maryland being in good health and of sound mind and memory calling to mind the frailty and uncertainty of human life, and being desirous of settling my worldly affairs and directing how the estate with which it hath pleased God to bless me, shall be disposed of after my decease while I have strength and capacity so to do, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking and making null and void all other Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made. And first, I commend my mortal being to Him who gave it, and my body to the earth, to be buried without unnecessary expense or ostentation by my Executor hereinafter named. And as to my worldly estate and all property, real, personal or mixed of which I shall die seized and possessed, or to which I shall be entitled at the time of my decease, I devise bequeath and dispose there in the following manner to wit: First, my will is that my just debts shall, by my Executor hereafter named be paid out of my estate as soon after my decease as shall be by him found convenient. Second, It is also my will that the funeral charges be paid from the amount due from the order of I.O.O.F. and the balance of said Order to be devised and bequeathed to my beloved wife Wilhelmina Grim. Third, I give and devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Wilhelmina Grim, the use, improvements and income of my dwelling house and lots on which I now reside, situated in Westernport, Allegany County, Maryland, to have and to hold the same to her, for and during her natural life or so long as she remains unmarried and my widow. On her death, or marriage the said property I give to my grandson Vector Grim, son of my second son William Grimm, but should my grandson Victor Grim die before the demise of my beloved wife Wilhelmina Grim, then my second son William Grim, shall be the heir of said property, to him and his heirs forever. Fourth, I desire that my property in Piedmont, Mineral County W. Va., situated on Second Street, Downney Addition to the Town of Piedmont W. Va., be sold as soon after my decease as my Executor may think advisable. Fifth, My life insurance in the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Relief Association, is provided to that association by dividing the said amount equally between five children, namely: Robert H., William, Louis, Emma and Anna. Sixth, It is also my will that all money's due from sorts due me such as K of P German Life Insurance of N.Y. and the cash from the sale of the property named in Section four located in Piedmont, W. Va. be divided as hereinafter provided. To my daughters Emma and Anna, each one hundred dollars. To my son Louis, one hundred dollars. To my son William five hundred dollars and to my son Robert H. three hundred dollars. To my beloved wife Wilhelmina, shall be set apart fifteen hundred dollars, for her natural life, said amount to be placed on interest by the Executor, the interest of said amount to be paid semi-yearly to my wife, Wilhelmina Grim so from said interest should keep the property in good repairs, pay taxes and insurance, and in case same is not properly attended to by my wife Wilhelmina, then the Executor shall have power to draw said interest and pay taxes and insurance and keep property in good repair. Should after all is paid over expenses settled still some money left unprovided for, then the Executor shall have power to take same, and share same share and share alike between the heirs of the said J. Christian Frederick Grim. Seven, It is also my will that all movable and unmovable property or chattels shall be left on the property during my beloved Wilhelmina Grim's life, but my tool chest and tools shall become the property of my second son William after my demise, he will also be appointed Executor of my estate. Eight, It is also and lastly my will, that after the death of my beloved wife Wilhelmina Grim, the fifteen hundred dollars on interest shall be divided as follows to wit: To my sons Robert H. Grim and William Grim each two hundred dollars. To my son Louis, one hundred dollars. Of the remainder of the funeral expenses of my beloved wife shall be paid, and the then remaining amount shall be divided share and share alike between my five legal heirs, excepting Robert H., who is not included in the share and share alike transaction. Nine, I hereby appoint my second son William Grim, executor of this my last will and testament. Ten, It is also my desire that Mr. Adam Liebeck of Westernport, in connection with my son Wm. Grim be one of the executors of the above estate. J.C. Frederick Grim (Seal) The said J. C. Frederick Grim, at Piedmont, West Virginia, on this 19th day of November 1898 signed and sealed this instrument, and published declared the same as and for his last Will and we, at his request and in his presence, and in the presence of each other, have hereunto written our names as subscribing witnesses. Jones Maner Jenkins State of Maryland Allegany County to wit: On the 18th day of March 1904, came Adam Liebeck one of the Executors named in the aforegoing last Will and Testament of John Christian Frederick Grim, late of Allegany County, Maryland, deceased, and made oath in due form of law: that after the death of John Christian Frederick Grim, the testator, he together with a daughter of the testator aforesaid found the said Will among his the testators private effects, and the said Adam Liebeck, further made oath in due form, that the aforegoing instrument of writing is the true whole last will and Testament of the said John Christian Frederick Grim deceased, that hath come to his hands or possession, and that he does not know of any other will and testament of the deceased aforesaid. Test. John B. Shannon Register of Wills State of Maryland Allegany County to wit: On this 1st day of April, 1904, came C.S. Jones and Maner Jenkins, the two subscribing witnesses to the aforegoing last Will and Testament of John Christian Frederick Grim, late of Allegany County, Maryland, deceased and made oath in due form of law" that they did see the said John Christian Frederick Grim, the testator, sign and seal said will. And they heard him publish pronounce, and declare the same to be his last will and Testament, that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding capable of executing a valid deed or contract, and that they respectively subscribed their names as witnesses thereto, at the request of John Christian Frederick Grim, the testator, in his presence, and all in the presence of each other.
