Will of Tobias Hoff (1862), Allegany Co, MD


    In the name of God, I, Tobias Hoff of the county of Allegany and state of 
Maryland being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of 
this
____ and transitory life  do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this 
to be my last and testament that is to say first after all my lawful debts 
are paid and discharged the residue of my estate real and personal I give, 
bequeath and dispose of as follows to wit: to my beloved wife and my son 
Francis Asbury Hoff the land and the appurtenances thereof known and 
described as the mills lying and being in Buffalo Creek in the county of 
Allegany and state of Maryland with all my estate real and personal now 
possessed by me. Further I desire that my beloved wife hold and retain her 
interest to
do as she desires at the expiration of this life - to my son Thornton and my 
son Zebulon P., my son John A., my son Ralph, my son Lawrence C. and my 
daughter Maria each and separately twenty-five cents a piece also that my 
beloved wife and my son Francis Asbury take care of my three little children 
to wit: my son Jacob, my son Abraham and my youngest daughter Isabella who 
_____be living at my death.
    Likewise I make, constitute and appoint Jacob Clemmer and my son John A. 
to be executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former 
wills made by me.
    In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my hand? and _____my seal
the 18th day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred 
and sixty two.

    Thereto, in the presence and at the request of the testator ___that said 
John Wesley Savage did not see him the said Jacob Clemmer sign said will.

    To the Honorable The Judges of the Orphans’ Court of Allegany County.
        I Jacob Clemmer having been appointed one of the executors of the 
Last Will and Testament of Tobias Hoff, late of Allegany County do hereby 
request and ___to act as said Executor.
        Given under my hand and seal this 24th day of March 1865.
