Written: September 29, 1823

In the name of God, Amen. I, Michael Kirshner of Allegany County and State of 
Maryland being in perfect health of body, and of sound and disposing mind, 
memory and understanding, considering the certainty of death and the 
uncertainty of the time thereof and being desirous to settle my worldly 
affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall 
please God to call me hence, do therefor make and publish this my last will 
and testament in manner and form following, that is to say.
First and principally I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God, and my 
body to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executris and 
Executor hereina after named, and after my debts and funeral charges are paid, 
I devise and bequeath as follows:
Item. I give and devise unto my wife Maria Anna Kirshner all of my property 
real, personal and mixed during her natural life and after her death, I give 
and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Reid the one half of the lot of ground I 
now occupy lying and being on Mechanic Street in the town of Cumberland, and 
one half of the tract of land called The Shade of Death containing seventy one 
acres lying and being on the west side of Fifteen Mile Creek, it is my will 
and desire that my daughter Mary Reid shall occupy the house she now lives in 
and presides during her life and after her death the property given to her 
shall be equally divided between her children George, Ann, Peter, Thomas, 
James and Cecelia Reid.
Item. I give and bequeath the other half of my real property as before 
described after my wife's death to George L., John, Upton and Alexander H. 
Lowdermilk to be equally divided between them share and share alike.
And Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my wife Mary Ann Executres and 
my friend Martin Rizer (?) Executor of this my last will and testament; 
revoking and annulling all former wills by me heretofore made; ratifying and 
confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal, this 
29th September of September (sic) in the year of our Lord One thousand eight 
hundred and twenty three.

My records use the Kershner spelling. The signature appears to add the "c", 
while the transcriber spells it Kirshner.
