I, Jacob Koontz Senior of Allegany County and the State of Maryland, being in perfect health of body, and of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof,and being desirious to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence, do therefore make and publish this my last will and testiment, in the manner and form following, that is to say. First and principally, I commit my soul unto the hands of Almighty God, and my body to the earth, to be decently buried at the discretion of my Excuetor here in after named, and after my Debts and funeral charges are paid, and my wife’s thirds taken out, I devise and bequeath as follows. First, I give and bequeath to my wife Mary Koontz all my Personal Estate during her natural life. Second, I give and bequeath to my son John Koontz, his heir and asssignes the Plantation on which I now live and a tract of land called ____ Rain, containing eighty acres more or less and Seventy Five acres of land apart of this tract I purchased of Patrick Murdock. Third, I give and bequeath unto my grandson, Jacob Spiker, his heirs and assignees. ten acres of land apart of the tract I purchased of Patrick Murdock including the house in which the said Jacob Spiker now lives and eighty acres of land ___ and adjoining where he now lives. Fourth, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Spiker, wife of Michael Spiker, her heirs and assignees. Fifteen acres of land, apart of the tract I purchased of Patrick Murdock and the lot of land containing Fifty acres being the same lot on which the said Michael Spiker now lives with all the improvements thereon. Fifth, I give and bequeath unto my son, Jacob Koontz, his heirs and assignees, the land I purchased of Jesse Tomlinson containing Six Hundred and Six acres more or less with all the improvements thereon. Sixth, I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Koontz, his heirs and assignees the tract of land called Buskirk’s Defeat Containing Fifty Six acres, more or less with all the improvements thereon. Seventh, I give and bequeath to my Daughter Barbary Parkinson, wife of Edward Parkinson, her heirs and assignees, the sum of three hundred Dollars, which sum of money shall be paid to her by son, John Koontz. Eighth, I give and beaqueath to my Daughter Catherine Potter, wife of Kelita Potter the sum of Two hundred and Fifty Dollars, one hundred and fifty of said sum to be paid to her by Henry Koontz and one hundred dollars of said sum to be paid to her by son Jacob Koontz. Ninth, I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter, Maria Ayres, wife of Samuel Ayres , Jun., her heirs and asignees the sum of Fifty Dollars which said sum of money to be paid to her by Son Jacob Koontz. Tenth, It is my will and devise that the personal property bequeathed to my wife during her life, shall be sold after her death to the best advantagea nd the money ______ thereon shall be equally divided between my daughter Mary Spiker, Catherine Potter and Barbary Parkinson, share and share alike. And lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Henry Koontz to be the Sole Executor of this my last will and testament , revoking and annulling ____ ______ :er wills by me here before made; ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and Testament. In Testimony whereof I have set my hand and affixed my seal, this Twenty Sixth day of May in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Seven. his Signed, Sealed, Published Jacob (X) Koontz and acclaimed , by Jacob Koontz, mark the aboved named Testator, by and for his last will and Testament, in the presence of us, who at his request and in his presence of each other, Subscribed our names as witnesses thereof.
