Written: September 17, 1818

In the name of God, Amen. I Thomas Reid of Allegany County and State of 
Maryland being sick and weak of body but of sound and disposing mind memory 
and understanding and considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty 
of the timing thereof do hereby make this my last will and testament. First 
and pricipally I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it, 
and my body to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my 
Executor, hereafter named and as to the worldly property which it has pleased 
Almighty God to bless me with, I give and devise the same as follows to wit.
Them i give and bequeath to my Dear and loving wife Mary Reid after my just 
debts and funeral charges are paid all my Estate both real and personal or 
meant (sic) to be disposed of by her for her and my children's support as she 
may think fit during her natural life, and at her decease whatever may be 
remaining I direct may be equally divided amongst my children, and I do hereby 
constitute and appoint my much esteemed friend George Hoffman the sole and 
whole executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all others 
by me made. In witness thereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed 
my seal this 17th day of September 1818
