Hoffman one of the subscribing witnesses and admitted to record this 17th day of February 1852. "This is the Last Will and Testament of Alle Wilson of Allegany County, State of Maryland I, Alle Wilson, of Allegany County, in the State of Maryland, being in perfect health of body, and of sound, disposing mind, memory, and understanding, considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs, do therefore make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say- First and principally, I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God, and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executor, herein after named, and after all my debts and financial charges are paid, I devise and bequeath as follows- First, I will and direct that my negro boy, named Moses Harrison, and now in his twentieth year, shall, at the time of my death, be manumitted and set free from slavery, and I do request my executor to take the proper steps provided by the Laws of the State of Maryland, to render the residence of the said negro boy legat, by applying to the Orphans Court of Allegany County for permission to have the said boy reside in Maryland as a free person; and this I do, because of the fidelity with which the said Moses Harrison has heretofore served me. Secondly, I leave the sum which shall arise from the sale of any crop which may be upon the ground or in the ground now belonging to me at the time of my death, and all grain which I may have or be entitled to, at that period, wherein the same may be, to be invested by my executor, in such manner as he may think fit, and the process of the said sale of grain and of the crop are to be used and applied, in such sum as my executor may think fit and proper, to the use of the said Moses Harrison and of my negro woman Milly, as the necessities of the said negroes may require it. And this sum is not intended by me to be divided between the negroes aforesaid, nor to be placed in specie at their or either of their disposal, but is to be applied to meet their personal wants, according to the discretion of my executor and the circumstances in which the said negroes may be placed. Thirdly, I also desire that my negro woman, Milly, whom it is impossible for me under the Laws of this State, to manumit, as she is above the age of forty five years, may be permitted to work and live where she pleases, with the permission of my executor, and I do heartily entreat my said executor to protect the said negro in her old age, and not to suffer her to be sold into servitude, but to take charge of and provide for her necessities, as far as he may be able to do the same. Fourthly, devise and bequeath to my daughter, Sophia Slicer, a bed and all the bedding marked with the letter S, which may be found in my possession at the time of my decease; to Emily Sophia Slicer a set of china, to James Henry Slicer a cow, to Lawrence Wilson, son of Elias Wilson I also bequeath a cow, to Sophia Wilson, daughter of Elias Wilson a bureau, to John Henry Wilson, a rifle, to Moses Elias Wilson a family Bible, to Jesse Wilson, a family Bible, to Samuel Finkel Wilson a family Bible, the rest and residue of all my personal estate of whatever kind and description, excepting the above enumerated and described articles I desire and bequeath unto my son Elias Wilson: unt0o whom I also desire specifically the sum of two hundred dollars, first, as a compensation for his services as executor of this my last will and testament, and secondly, to reimburse him for any medical bills or expenses or charges which may be put to by reason of the sickness of either of the aforesaid negroes after my said decease, so far as the said sum of two hundred dollars will reach. And lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my dear son, Elias Wilson. To be sole executor of this my last will and testament, revoking and annulling all former wills, by me heretofore made, ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty sixth day of June in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty-eight. Signed sealed published and declared by Alle Wilson the above named testatrix as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us, who at her request, and in her presence and in presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto. Signed < John A. Hoffman > and < M.Tophane Evans>.
