All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Patent [Marginal note:] John Howard pat 150 acres Howards Interest Cecilius To all persons To whom these presents Shall come Greeting in Our Lord God Everlasting Know yee that wee for and in consideration that John Howard of this province planter hath due unto him One hundred and fifty Acres of Land within this province byeing part of a Warrt for nine hundred acres granted to him and his three brothers Cornelius, Samuel and Mathew Howard as appears upon record and upon Such conditions and terms as are expressed in Our conditions of plantation of Our province of Maryland Under Our greater Seal at Arms bearing date at London the Second Day of July in the Year of Our Lord God One Thousand Six hundred forty nine with Such alteration as [Marginal note:] (253) Liber CC (253) (254) Vide Cert Libr MDCLxiij ?CCLxxxxiiij in them is made by Our declaration bearing date the two and twentieth day of September Anno One Thousand Six hundred fifty Eight and remaining upon record in Our said province of Maryland Do hereby grant unto him the Said John Howard a parcell of land (called Howards Interest) lying on the South Side of Severne River in Ann Arrundell County Beginning at a marked white Oak on the North side of a Branch of a Creek called Hockley Creek and bounded on the North by a Line drawn North West and by North for the breadth of Eighty perches, to a bounded Oak, being the Southermost bound of Richardsons Land, on the West by Richardsons Line, drawn South West for the length of Two hundred and Ninety perches to a marked red Oak on the South by a Line drawn South East and by South for the breadth of Seventy perches to a marked pohikory on the East by a Line drawn East North East from the said pohikory the length of One hundred perches to a Spanish Oak, markt with twelve Notches in Cornelius Howards Line, and from the said Spanish Oak by a Line drawn North East the length of One hundred and Ninety perches to the first marked white Oak, Containing and now laid out for One hundred and fifty Aces more or less. Together with all rights profits and benefits thereunto belonging (Royal mines excepted) To have and to hold the same unto him the said John Howard his heirs and asssigns for ever. To be holden of us and Our heirs as of our Mannor of Baltemore in free and common Soccage by fealty only for all manner services Yielding and paying therefore Yearly unto us or Our heirs at Our receipt at St. Marys at the two most usuall feasts in the year (Viz) at the feast of the Annunciation of the blessed Virgin Mary and at the feast of St. Michael the Arch Angell by even and equal portions the [Marginal note:] Rent 3/p anno Rent of three Shillings Sterling in Silver or Gold and for a fine upon every alienation of the Said Land or any part of parcell thereof One whole Years rent in Silver or Gold, or the full value thereof in such commodities as Wee or Our heirs or Such officer or officers, appointed by us or our heirs from time to time to collect and receive the same Shall accept in discharge thereof at the choice of us or Our heirs or Such officer or officers as aforesaid. Provided that if the said John Howard his heirs or assigns shall not 1664 [Marginal note:] Liber CC (254) (255) pay unto us or our heirs or such officer or officers as afd the said Sume for a fine before Such alienation and enter the said alienation upon record either in the provincial Court or in the County Court where the Said parcell of land lyeth within One Month next after Such alienation the said alienation shall be void and none Effect. Given at St. Marys under Our Great Seal of Our said province of Maryland the fourth day of August in the three and thirtieth year of our dominion Over Our Said province of Maryland annoque domini One Thousand Six hundred Sixty four.
