Will of Anne Astatia Earlougher, dated October 28, 1838.
(Astatis was the wife of Michael Earlougher)

In the name of God Amen. I Anne Astatia Earlougher, Inkeeper of Anne Arundel County 
in the state of Maryland, being weak of body, but of sound and disposing mind, memory 
and understanding, considering the certainty of death, and the uncertainty of time, and 
being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this 
world when it shall please God to call one hence - do therefore make and publish this my 
last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say, First and principally I 
commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the Earth to be decently 
buried at the discretion of my Executor herein after named and after my debts and funeral 
expenses are paid I devise and bequeath as follows to Wit. - 

Item, I give and bequeath unto my son, Michael Earlougher or Heirs the sum of five 

shillings being all that he or they are to receive out of my Estate both real and personal.

Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Earlougher or Heirs the sum of one dollar 
being all that he or they is to receive out of my Estate both real and personal he having 
heretofore received his full portion. -

Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Francis Earlougher the House and Lot where I now 
live and reside, known as being part of a tract of Land called Rebecca's Lot lying and 
bounding on the 12th mile of the Baltimore and Frederick Turnpike Road one acre of 
Land more or less to him the said Francis Earlougher his heirs and assigns in fee simple.- 

Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Jacob Earlougher or heirs the sum of one Dollar 
being all that he or they is to have out of my estate both real and personal, he having 
heretofore had his full portion. - 

Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Catharine White or Heirs all any wearing 
apparell and no more she having heretofore received her portion out of said Estate. - 

Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Statia Porter one Dollar being all that she is 
to have out of my Estate both real and personal, she having heretofore received he full 
portion.- 

Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Riddle (formerly Mary Uncles) one 
dollar and no more. - 

Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Burgess one dollar and no more.- 

Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret Bridly one dollar and no more. - 

Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Francis Earlougher and his heirs, all the remainder 
of my property real and personal and mixed wheresoever it may be found. - Now my Will 
and meaning is that the house and lot that is bequeathed to my son Franics Earlougher 
shall not be sold or made over, to satisfy or pay the legacies or bequests that is mentioned 
about or within. For it is ment and intended that my Executor herein after named pay 
those legacies if it is convenient for him so to do, and that he shall have at least four years 
to pay them off in without interest, and further time also if not convenient for him. But if 
convenient he can pay them sooner should he see proper to do so. - 

And lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my son Francis Earlougher to be my 
Executor of this my last Will and Testament revoking and annulling all former Wills by me 
heretofore made ratifying this and none other to be my last Will and Testament. In Witness 
whereof I have hereunto affixed my hand and seal this Twenty Eighth day of October in 
the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and thirty eight. -

Signed, sealed, published and declared by Anne Astatia Earlougher the above named 
Testatrix as and for her last Will and testament in the presence of us, who at her request, 
in her presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witness 
thereunto.

Anne Arundel County SP Then came Luke Mercer and William F. Mercer, two of the The 
2nd day of April 1839 Witnesses to the aforegoing last Will and Testament of Anne 
Astatia Earlougher, late of Anne Arundel County, deceased, and made Oath on the Holy 
Evangely of Almighty God, that they did see the Testatrix therein named sign her mark to 
this will, and that at the time of her so doing she was to the best of their apprehensions of 
sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding and that they together with William 
Whipps, the other subscribing witness respectively subscribed ther names or witnesses to 
this Will in the presence and at the request of the testatrix and all in the presence of each 
other. -
