These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations. ************************************************************************ Will of John Gassaway (of Nicholas) of Anne Arundel Co. dated 20 December 1767 Vol. 36, Pg. 556, Dated: 20 December 1767 Executed: 30 August 1768 In the name of Goad Amen I JOHN GASSAWAY, son of NICHOLAS of Elk Ridge, in Ann Arundel County Maryland being sick and weak in body but of sound disposing mind and memory do make ordain constitute and appoint this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say-- Imprimis I recommend my soul into the hands of God who gave it hoping through the merrits and intercession of my Beloved Saviour Jesus Christ to inherit Eternal Life and Glory and my Body to the earth to be decently Interr'd. Item: I leave and bequeath to my honored father NICHOLAS GASSAWAY all my estate both real and personal of what nature or kind soever he satisfying and paying thereout all just debts that I may owe to him the said NICHOLAS GASSAWAY his heirs and assigns forever. Lastly I constitute Nominate and Appoint my said Dear Father NICHOLAS GASSAWAY Executor of this my last will. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twentieth day of December in the year of our lord Seventeen hundred and Sixty-Seven. JOHN GASSAWAY son of NICHOLAS Signed Sealed Acknowledged Published and Declared as his last will and Testament in presence of us who have subscribed our names as Witnesses hereunto: ALEXANDER MCNECHAN, JACOB MYERS, WILLIAM LUX. August 30th 1768 Then came JACOB MYER and Mr. WILLIAM LUX of Baltimore County and on September 1st or 2nd came ALEXANDER MCNECHAN and deposed they saw the Testator JOHN GASSAWAY son of NICHOLAS sign the foregoing will and heard him pronounce Publish and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of all their apprehensions of sound and disposing mind and memory that they subscribed their respective names as witnesses to the said Will in the presence of the said Testator and at his request.
