A formatted version can be Viewed at http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/baltimore/wills/howard-e1.pdf Ephraim Howard (d1770) Will Anne Arundel County MD Maryland Hall of Records Liber 37, folio 481 (Microfilm SR 4431) Written 21 December 1766 Proved 15 March 1770 In the Name of God Amen I Ephraim Howard of Ann Arundel County in the Province of Maryland Gentleman being of perfect mind and memory do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner following Imrpimed I recommend my Soul to God that gave it and my Body to the Earth to be Buried in Decent Christian Like manner at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named Item I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Howard all my Land in Anne Arundel County that lays on the West side of Patuxent River which said Land I give to him and his Heirs for ever. Also Negro Adam to him & his heirs forever Item I give and bequeath unto my son Ephraim Howard all my Land in Frederick County called Lapland which said Land I give to him and his Heirs for ever. Also Negro Will to him and his heirs for ever in full of my Estate. Item I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Howard all my Lands in Ann Arundel County that Lays on the South East side of the aforesaid Patuxent River which said Land I give to him and his Heirs for ever also negro Bob to him and his Heirs for ever. Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah Howard my Negro Girls Poll and Nack to her and her heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Martha Howard one negro Boy Sam and Negro Girl Cloe to her and her heirs for ever. Item I give and bequeath unto Margaret Mackelfish my negro Boy Frederick to her and her Heirs forever. Proviso If Margaret Mackelfish or any other person in her behalf shall demand a childs part of her Fathers Estate, then my Will is that she shall not have any right to the above negro boy Frederick; but he shall be deemed my Estate. Lastly I constitute appoint and Ordain my beloved Son Joseph Howard to be my Executrise and Executor of this my Last Will and Testament and I do hereby disallow and make void all other Wills by me heretofore made and confirming this and no other. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 21{st} Day of December 1766 My Will is that my Daughters Sarah and Martha shall have the Liberty to Live in my Dwelling House Tell they are married and that my sons Joseph and Henry find them Land for their People to work tell then. Came Joshua Dorsey (son of Henry) and Edward Gaither Jun{r} two of the subscribing Witnesses to the within Will and made Oath that they saw the Testator herein named Sign and Seal and heard him publish pronounce and Declare the same to be his last Will and Testament and that at the Time of his so doing he was to the best of their several apprehensions of a sound and disposing mind Memory and understanding and that they severally signed their names as Evidences to this Will in the presence and at the request of the Testator and in the presence of each other, And also that they saw William Sellman the 3{d} subscribing Evidence sign his name thereto in the presence of the Testator Elie Nallette D Com AA Co{ty} Examined
