Last testament and will of HENRY M. MURRAY, of Anne Arundel Co., 
Dated 5 Aug 1870, Proved 4 Oct 1870

Thankful to Almighty God for all his manifold mercies and benefits hoping he may 
continue his providential care over all my relations and friends and being of sound mind, 
memory and understanding and capable of making a valid deed or contract in law, I 
declare the following to be and ought to be taken as and for my last will and testament.

First, I give and devise to my dear brother, James D. Murray, his heirs and assigns, all my 
right, title and interest and estate in and to the property commonly called "Aden" including 
the Bath Lot all of which is situated within or near the limits of the city of Annapolis.

Secondly, I give and devise to my dear sister Charlotte (the wife of Dr. Charles H. Neele) 
her heirs and assigns all my right, title and interest and estate in and to one undivided fifth 
part of the Allegany lands left by my dear father the late James Murray. I also give and 
devise to my said sister Charlotte her heirs and assigns all my right title interest and estate 
in and to a certain lot in the City of Annapolis on West Street extended originally leased 
by the late James Murray to William Tell Nicholas, which lease is now owned by the Hon. 
Wm. H. Tuck.

Thirdly, in consideration of the Estate hereinbefore given and devised to my brother James 
D. Murray, I hereby charge and require him to pay to my dear sister Kate during her life 
an annuity of one hundred dollars ($100) payable semiannually in advance in sums of fifty 
dollars ($50) each commencing with the first day of January succeeding my death.

Fourthly, I wish my dear sister Hannah to understand and believe that it is not because I 
love her less that I have given her so little in this Will but because as compared with my 
sisters Charlotte and Kate, I deem her sufficiently funded for. I give and bequeath to my 
said sister Hannah the wife of Charles Stewart, one hundred dollars ($100) wherewith to 
purchase whatever she may choose to select as a souvenier of the giver, and to keep the 
hope that she will give it to dear little Sal after her death. This legacy is to be paid by my 
brother James within six months after my death.

Fourthly, I give and bequeath my watch and rifle to my nephew, John M. Neele.

Fifthly, all my other personal property consisting of books, furniture, personal apparel, I 
give and bequeath to my nephew Nevill Steele.

Sixthly, Should I die possessed of or entitled to any money, stocks, private or public 
securities or real estate acquired after the 14th day of July in the year eighteen hundred 
and seventy, it is my will and desire that the same may be distributed and divided as if I 
had died intestate.

Lastly, I nominate and appoint my brother James D. Murray as sole executor of this my 
last will and testament, hereby revoking and annulling all wills if any by me heretofore 
made.

In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this fifth day of 
August in the year eighteen hundred and seventy.

Signed, sealed published and declared by H.M. Murray the above named testator as and 
for his last will and testament in the presence of us at his request in his presence and in the 
presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto. The words "her 
heirs and assigns" between the first and second lines on page two of this will being first 
interlined.

Then came James W. Hunter, Ferdinand Mallau, and James C. Welch, the subscribing 
witnesses to the foregoing last will and testament of Henry M. Murray and made oath on 
the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that they did see the testator sign and seal this will 
that they heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and 
testament and that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehension of 
sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding and that they respectively 
subscribed their names as witnesses thereto at the request of the testator and in his 
presence and all in the presence of each other.
