Md Will Record J.g.1 Vol 39 Pg. 88, Msa 4869-19-1/66 01/04/14/017 Written: February 4, 1817 Recorded: November 9, 1819 In the name of god I Bethridge Simmons of Arrendel County being week in body but of a Sound mind disposing mind memory and understanding knowing the certainty of Death do maek and ordain my last Will and testament in manner and form folling after my just debts are paid i give and bequeath, i give unto my negro woman Luci and my negro man David their freedom and i do hereby mannuate them and let them free and request my exetur herein after to discharge them immediately after i am buried. I give and bequeath unto my grandaughter Susannah Mackcen half dozen Silver teaspons and silver striner all the rest and the residue of my estate i give to my four grandaughters Sarah Drury daughters Susanah Drury and Mary Drury, Susanah Mackcene two daughters Metele Mackcene and Susanah Mackcene to be equalli divided between them & Sary Drury my wearing aparrel and by fowels. I do hereby constitute and apoint Benjamin Mackcene sole Excuter my Last Will and testament i do hereby disalow and confirm this to be my last Will my hand and seal 4 day of february in the year of Eighteen Hundred and Seventeen. Signed and seald Bethridg Simmons. Ann Basford (her mark) Anne Arundel County the 9th Day of Nov 1819. Then came Benjamin McCeney the appointed Executor in the last will and Testament of Bethridg Simmons late of Anne Arundel County, deceased, and did refuse to act as Executor to said Will by virtue of such appointment, and therefor renounced all his right, title and claim to said Executorship aqccordingly. Before Jno Gassaway Reg Will AA Cty Anne Arundel County the ___ day of ____, 1819. Then came Ann Basford the only subscribing witness to the within last will and Testament of Bethridge Simmons late of Anne Arundel County, deceased and made oath on the holy Evangely of Almight God that to the best of her knowledge she did not see the Testatrix therein named sign and seal this will but things that the signature "Bethridg Simmons" was written previously to the Testatrix's presenting the said Will to her to Witness; that she heard her publish, pronounce and declare the same to be her last will and Testament, that at the time of her so doing she was to the best of her apprehension of sound, disposing mind, memory and understanding, and that she sitnessed this will by making her mark to the same at the request and in the presence of the said Tetatrix. Anne Arundel County this 20th day of April 1820. Then came Joseph McCeney and made Oath on the holy Evangely of Almighty God that hes for anumber of yars been aquainted with Bethridge Simmons who appears to have signed her name to her Will as within. That he this deponant has also been for years acquainted with the hand writing of the said Bethridge and that he verily believes that this within will is all in her hand writing and no other.
