This chapel was struck by lightning and burned during the 1920s; the ruins remain, along with a small, untended cemetery. The town of Daniels itself was largely abandoned following the 1972 flood caused by Tropical Storm Agnes. These inscriptions were recorded on January 26, 2001. Please note that the ground was snow-covered, and many stones have been broken off or toppled. Some might have been covered by snow, in which case I missed them. I will return after the thaw to record any stones I might have missed. The stones: TRISCHMANN A large, toppled family stone (?) marked 'TRISCHMANN'. The stone lies face up in the snow, and is covered in ice. As far as I could tell, the name is the only inscription, but I will verify this on my return. At the foot of this stone are two smaller stones marked as follows: Joseph H. 1904-1911 George R, 1865-1929 MITCHELL Barbara MITCHELL Died Feb 16, 1918 Aged 85 years Fathful Until Death SMITH Mary E. wife of Robert I. Clinton F. Costello 1895-1940 OTHER STONES There are two apparently oldered stones along a path leading away from the other stones. One is marked in part: Mary K. Daughter of ______ ___________ died _______ The other is totally illegible to me. There are also a number of broken off smaller stones. I assume these to be either footstones or markers for infants. One is marked 'M.E.C.' and another 'L.C.H.'
