RICHARD TAYLORS DEPOSITION of 8 Sept 1739 - Baltimore Co., Maryland

Maryland Baltimore Co, 
Richard Taylor of Goochland Co.,Va. aged about 51 years being sworn declares as 
follows that he has known a bounded chesnut tree standing on a ridge between the 
dwelling plantation of Joseph Taylor and the dwelling plantation of Henry Stevenson & 
where he now stands about 30 years, which sd tree he declare- to best of his knowledge is 
the boundry expressed in the Grant of Ill Will for the end of the 17th line of the sd land & 
further declares that about 22 years ago he came with Edward Stevenson dec'd and sundry 
others to the afsd bounded tree where sd Edward Stevenson asserted the sd Chesnut to be 
the bounded tree where the north E '1/2 a point N course of sd Stevenson's land & sd 
IllWill was by pattent expressed to begin & further declares that about sd years he was as 
sundry times with severale persons at the bounded chesnut tree whose names follows 
dec'd all of whome asserted the same or words to this signification & further declares that 
about 25 years ago he was present when the resurvey on Ill Will and Roberts Choice was 
made and by such resurvey called Taylors Range and saw the afsd course begin at the sd 
tree & further declares that he the sd Richard Taylor heard his afsd father Richard Taylor 
request the surveyor to express the sd bounded tree and & others the out boundarys of Ill 
Will in his cert of survey accounding to the true place & expressions of the original grant 
of Ill will and further saith not, sworn the 8 day of Sept 1739 before Wm Bond.
