Baltimore County Advocate
August 2, 1858

MITCHELL, MATILDA ANN     In Towsontown, on Thursday, the 23d ultimo, Matilda Ann, 
only daughter of Joseph B. and Amanda M. Mitchell, aged 9 years, 1 month and 6 days.
   A cherished form has left our door,
   A form that ne’er will shade it more;
   An eye is closed that always smiled
   Upon us with affection mild; 
   A voice is hushed that used to greet;
   A sister’s heart has ceased to beat.

   When round the family board we meet,
   And each one takes his ‘customed seat,
   The sigh, the bitter sigh will start,
    Forced from an almost broken heart,
   And tears each other quickly trace,
   As we behold the vacant place.

   But see! Beyond the falling tears,
   A beam of glorious light appears;
   It gently beckons us away,
   From sorrow’s dark and gloomy sway,
   And points our spirits so forlorn,
   Unto the Resurrection Morn.

SCHWARTZ, CHARLES AUGUST     Suddenly, on the 24th ult., on Chesnut Ridge, Charles August 
Schwartz, leaving a wife and one child.
