Bamber, who was born in the village of Warren, 8th district, in April, 1816, died near the same place, January 19th, 1894. Her father, it is claimed, started the Brandywine cotton mills in Delaware and Warren and Phoenix mills in Maryland. He was brought from England over to this country in a sugar hogshead to escape the detectives, who tried to prevent him from bringing patterns for making cotton machinery.
