HOWARD - The funeral of Mr. B. Howard Gorsuch, who died on Thursday, 2d inst., took place from his late residence last Sunday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. Charles T. Weede, of Hereford Circuit. The church was filled with relatives and friends who had gathered to pay the last tribute of respect to the deceased. He was a man who was loved and respected by everyone with whom he came in contact. BILLINGSLEY, MATILDA - Miss Matilda Billingsley, of Baltimore, sister of Mrs. Elizabeth Roberts, of this place, died early Monday morning last, at the home of her niece, Mrs. McCabe, in Baltimore city. The body was brought out on the 10:30 A. M. train Wednesday and interred in Waugh M. E. Cemetery. PRICE, JOSHUA - Mr. Joshua Price, one of the oldest and most highly esteemed citizens of this district [10th], died on Sunday last, from an affection of the heart, aged 77 years. He was an affectionate husband and father and a kind neighbor and his presence will be much missed. He is susrvived by a widow, two daughters - Miss Clara Price and Mrs. Cyrus Coe, of Stewartstown - and one son-- Mr. J. Albert Price, for all of whom much sympathy is expressed in their bereavement. The funeral took place at Clynmalira M. E. Church on Tuesday morning and was largely attended. The services were conducted by Rev. J. T. Marsh and Rev. R. G. Koontz, pastors of Monkton Circuit, assisted by Rev. J. W. Campbell, pastor of Chestnut Grove Presbyterian Church. The pall-bearers were Messrs. George E. Shelley, Charles H. Curtis, Jackson Wilson, Oliver Price, Jackson Curry and Mr. Brown. Interment was in the cemetery adjoining the church. SPARKS, JOSIAH - Mr. Josiah Sparks, a respected farmer and dairyman near Corbett, 10th district, died on Sunday last, after a long illness from disease of the sstomach, aged 68 years. He was a native of Baltimore county and a son of Aaron and Elizabeth Sparks, his grandfather having removed from Virginia to what is now known as New Market, Baltimore county, as early as 1720. The wife of Mr. Sparks, who died several years ago, was a daughter of the late John H. Scott, who was the first conductor on the Baltimore & Susquehanna (now Northern Central) Railroad, and who was seroiusly injured in the collision that occurred on that road in the 50s, a short distance south of what was then known as Rider's Switch. He is survived by a son and a daughter - Mr. Francis E. Sparks and Miss Marcia A. Sparks- and also by two sisters, one of whom is the wife of Mr. James M. Anderson, a well known farmer near Phoenix. The deceased was for a number of years a member of St. James' P. E. Church, My Lady's Manor, and for a long time a member of the vestry. The funeral of Mr. Sparks took place on Thursday afternoon, Rev. Geo. K. Warner, of St. James' Church, and Rev. Duncan McCulloh, of Emmanuel Church, Glencoe, conducting the services. The interment was in the cemetery attached to St. James' Church. The honorary pall-bearers were Messrs. Jackson Wilson, William E. Hutchins, Julius E. Thornton, T. Melville Pearce, J. Randolph Rutledge and Dr. Thomas sH. Emory. Active - Messrs. T. Raymond Amos, Harry A. Matthews, H. B. Dowell, J. H. Edmondson, Morris A. Soper and Samuel A. Amos. GENT, HANNAH - Mrs. Hannah Gent, wife of Mr. Orrick W. Gent, a well known farmer of the 8th district, living near Shawan, died on Thursdday morning, after an illness of five days from pnenmonia, aged 49 years. She was a native of Baltimore county and the only child of Mr. Uriah Cox. Beside her husband she is survived by eight children - six sons and two daughters - all of whom live at home. Mrs. Gent, who was a kind and thoughtful friend and neighbor, was one of the most active members of Grace M. P. Church, where her absence will be felt almost as seriously as in the home circle. The funeral will take place this (Saturday) morning at Grace Church, at 11 o'clock, and will be conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. L. Straughn. HILGARTNER, LUDWIG - Mr. Ludwig Hilgartner, head of the Hilgartner Marble Company of Baltimore, died at the home of his son, Dr. H. L. Hilgartner, of Austin, Texas, on Saturday last, from a stroke of paralysis, aged 70 years. He went to Texas about a week before, accompanied by one of his sons, for the benefit of his health. He is survived by three sons and a daughter. Mr. Henry L. Hilgartner, a well known citizen of Sweet Air, Baltimore county, is a brother of the deceased, who owned a pretty country home at Oak Forest Park, near Catonsville. Although a native of Germany Mr. Hilgartner had carrried on a successful marble working business in Baltimore since 1863. SCARBOROUGH, ELIZABETH INGHAM - Miss Elizabeth Ingham Scarborough died on Sunday last at the home of her nephew, Mr. Harold Scarborough, near Catonsville, aged 84 years. She was a native of Harford county and for over forty years was a successful teacher in the public schools of that county and will be remembered by hundreds of the older citizens who were instructed by her. Miss Scarborough was a devout member of the Society of Friends. HINDES, JAY G. - Mr. Jay G. Hindes died in San Francisco, Cal., on the 2d inst., from a stroke of paralysis, aged 51 years. he was a son of the late Samuel Hindes, of Baltimore, and his daughter, Miss Anna M. Hindes, is a resident of Govanstown, Baltimore county, where two nephews of the deceased - Messrs. Joseph F. and Harry Hindes - also reside.
