H. - Mr. P. H. Brommelsick died at his home in Govanstown, on Sunday last, after a two weeks' illness from pneumonia, aged 79 years. His wife died a week before from the same disease. Their son and only child, J. Henry Brommelsick, is in a hospital in Baltimore with both arms broken, the result of a fall from a ladder. BOWEN, HANNAH - Mrs. Hannah Bowen died at her home in Baltimore, on Saturday last, aged 73 years. She was the wife of Mr. Lewis F. Bowen, Sr., a well known carpenter, who was formerly a resident of Calverton, which was, before annexation, located in Baltimore county. Her remains were interred in Loudon Park Cemetery on Monday. KERR, JOHN - Mr. John Kerr died at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. A. H. Green, Hickory avenue, Hampden, on Thursday last, aged 83 years. He was born at Pikesville and for many years was employed in the mills at Woodberry and Alberton. Mr. Kerr is survived by four sons and two daughters. KIRKWOOD, NATHANIEL C. - Mr. Nathaniel C. Kirkwood died on Monday last at his home, Bradenbaugh, Harford county, aged 88 years. He was a bachelor and a cousin of the late Samuel J. Kirkwood, who was a United States Senator from Iowa and Secretary of the Interior in the Cabinet of President Hayes. BLACKBURN, CLARENCE W. - Clarence W. Blackburn, son of Mr. Robert H. Blackburn, of Hamilton, Harford road, died on Wednesday night of pneumonia, after a very brief illness, aged 17 years. His funeral will take place today. The mother of young Blackburn died only a few months ago. NELSON, ANN M. - Mrs. Ann M. Nelson, wife of Mr. Tenant Nelson, died on Monday last at her home, Granite, 2d district, in the 50th year of her age. Before marriage Mrs. Nelson was a Miss Dorsey, of Howard county. OWINGS, CHARLES FRANCIS - Charles Francis Owings, of Sparrow's Point, Baltimore county, died in New Mexico, on the 19th ult., in the 27th year of his age. He was a son of Margaret and the late Perry T. Owings, and had been visiting Florida and New Mexico for the benefit of his health. His condition became worse recently, and his sister joined him and was with him when he died. Mr. Owings graduated at law, but his health never permitted him to practice. Mr. James Watson Owings, a brother of the deceased, is sthe assistant chemist at Sparrow's Point. GEIGER, JOHN - Mr. John Geiger, one of the oldest residents of East Baltimore and for thirty-five years a well known and successful business man, died at his home on East Pratt street, on Tuesday last, aged 78 years. He was a native of Germany, but had been a resident of Baltimore since he was 16 years of age. He is survived by a widow and eight children. On of his sons is Mr. John W. H. Geiger, cashier of the Canton National Bank. COOPER, PENELOPE - Mrs. Penelope Cooper, wife of Justice Abraham S. Cooper, died at her home at Trenton, 5th district, on Saturday last, aged 71 years. Beside her husband she is survived by three chhildren - Mrs. Henry Martin and Messrs. William and Shellman Cooper. Her funeral took place on Monday and the remains were interred in the Lutheran Cemetery at Trenton. GEORGE, PHILIP THOMAS - Mr. Philip Thomas George, whosse illness has been lately several times reported in The Union, died on Wednesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Richard Cromwell, St. Paul and Monument streets, Baltimore, where he and Mrs. George had been spending the winter. His death was due to a complication of diseases and was hastened by his advanced age. Mr. George was born in Baltimore in 1817 and was educated at the Friends' School at Ellicott City. His father was William E. George, and his mother before marriage was Miss Sarah Ellicott. He was the eldest of nine children and when quite young secured a position as clerk with his father's firm of Thomas, George & Thomas, hardware dealers. In 1848 he formed a partnership with T. R. Jenkins for the purpose of carrying on a wholesale provision business. The firm, known as George & Jenkins, soon became the leading pork packers in the South. About 25 years ago the firm dissolved, and the business was carried on under the name of P. T. George & Co. About two years ago the firm failed, and the business is now carried on by Mr. George's son, under the firm name of George & Co. Mr. George was a director in the old Farmers and Planters' Bank. He married Miss Ellen Jenkins, of Long Green Valley, who, with a daughter, Mrs. Cromwell, and two soms, Samuel E. and Josias J. George, survive him. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Long Green. Mr. George was one of Baltimore city's oldest and most highly esteemed citizens. He owned a farm in Long Green Valley, where he had been spending the summer for many years. The funeral took place at St. Ignatius' Church, Baltimore, on Friday morning. The interment was in Greenmount Cemetery. BURTON, WILLIAM - Mr. William Burton, whose critical illness was announced in The Union last week, died on Sunday morning, at the home of his brother-in-law, Mr. Charles Gorsuch, near Fork, 11th district, in the 75th year of his age. Mr. Burton was a native of the 11th district and in early life secured employment on the Pennsylvania Railroad and for a long time was an express agent running out of Philadelphia. Abandoning this occupation he engaged in the real estate and insurance business at Norristown, Pa., and later in Philadelphia. He had been living private for some years. Mr. Burton is survived by a widow, who is a half sister of Mrs. Streett, wife of Police Marshal A. T. Streett. He leaves no children.
