Mr. G. was peeling bark in company with Mr. Joseph Bosley on the property of Mr. Joshua Hoshall, when it was suggested that they go to the spring, which was but a short distance off, for water. As he bent over to get a drink he ruptured a blood vessel and before his companion could get him but a short distance he expired of hemorrhages. His remains were interred in Pine Grove Cemetery on Saturday morning. The Rev. Jacob Shamberger officiated. CHANNEL, ALLEN Mr. Allen Channel, a respected citizen of near Fawn Grove, died on the 24th ult. And was buried at Fawn Grove Cemetery on the 26th. Mr. Channel had been sick for some months. He leaves a wife and two children. BUTLER, MRS. WM. H. Death has again visited our community and selected for his subject one who has crossed the dividing line of eternity. Mrs. Wm. H. Butler died about half-past 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon. She has been afflicted for a number of years with paralysis. STEWART, WM. Mr. Wm. Stewart, of Warren, aged about 88 years, passed away about 12:30 midnight, Sunday. DAVIS, ANNIE C. We are called upon to chronicle the death of Mrs. Annie C., wife of Mr. Robert Davis, of Rayville, which occurred on Tuesday night, 21st. ult. She had been a victim of that fell destroyer consumption for several years, bearing her affliction with Christian fortitude and that resignation which characterizes the true follower of God. She was in her 48th year, and leaves a very interesting family of five boys and one girl behind. There seemed to be an extraordinary amount of maternal affection exhibited by this mother for her children, which was duly appreciated by them. They had her welfare as the uppermost thought in their minds. On the Friday following, at 1 P.M., her funeral took place at Pine Grove Church, the Rev. Mr. Young conducting the services. Mrs. Emma Barshinger presided at the organ. After the services at the church the remains were viewed by a large concourse of people. There were many moistened eyes as the last look was taken of her whom they had learned to love for her many sterling qualities. We sympathize with this bereaved family in this the time of their sore affliction. HOWARD, SOPHIA J. Mrs. Sophia J. Howard, aged 70 years, sister of Dr. L. N.
