(from article) On Sunday last, 7th inst., while the funeral services of Mrs. Sarah E. Dorsey were in progress at the Baptist Church at Pikesville, just as the pall-bearers were about to place the coffin upon the stand at the chancel railing, the flooring over the baptistery gave way and the coffin, two of the pall-bearers, Mr. McDaniel and a daughter of the dead woman fell through. Two of the pall- bearers happened to be on a solid portion of the flooring and caught hold of the chancel rail, and in this way prevented the coffin from falling entirely to the bottom of the baptistery. Many persons crowded around, and others thinking that the entire church was about to fall down, rushed for the doors. The clergyman, who was conducting the funeral, and Mr. McDaniel managed to quiet those present, after which the coffin and those in the baptistery were extracted from the timbers and the coffin was taken outside of the church. Mr. Wagner was the only person injured. He was badly bruised and had his shoulder dislocated. After quiet was restored the casket was again brought in and the services gone through with. The interment was in the churchyard. KLINE, CHILD – The infant child of Mr. Sameel Kline, of Beckleysville, was laid to rest on Monday last in Middletown Cemetery. MASEMORE, THOMAS R. - Mr. Thomas R. Morris, near Freeland, on the 2d inst., was a sad and unexpected occurrence. She, in company with her niece, was visiting her neighbor. They remained for supper, of which she partook heartily, and then started for home. She had gone but a short distance before she realized that her sight had left her, also at about the same time she was deprived of motion – a paralytic stroke. She was asked by her niece what could be done, and her reply was, “ It is all over with me.” She lingered from Sunday evening until Tuesday morning. Her funeral took place on Friday following at Mt. Zion Cemetery and was largely attended. The exercises were conducted by the Rev. J. S. Bowers, of Stewartstown, Pa. Mrs. M. was in her 61st year, and was a sister of the Rev. A. D. Dick, of Towson. She will be much missed in the community of which she was a valuable and respected member. Delila Morris, wife of Salem R. Morris and sister of Rev. A. D. Dick, pastor of Epsom M. P. Church, Towson, departed this life near Freelands, Baltimore county, Md., September 30th, in the 61st year of her age. She was well and favorably known in the neighborhood where she had resigned nearly all of her life and where she had been a member of the church from her girlhood until her death.- The high regard in which she was held in her neighborhood and church was evinced in the large and sympathizing congregation which attended her funeral, which was held in Mt. Zion M. P. Church, of which se was a member, conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. S. Bowers. She was devoted to her church, and was ready to help in efforts for the advancement of Christ’s cause as she had ability.- Her influence will be felt for good, and though dead, she will speak to the hearts of those who were witnesses of her consistent Christian character. She will be sadly missed, especially by her bereaved husband, her daughter, and many other relations and friends, who do not mourn without hope, because as she lived for Christ, so she fount it gain to die. In the cemetery of Mount Zion Church she was laid to rest until the resurrection morn when God will bring His own to be glorified in His saints.
