Will of Josiah Boring of Baltimore County,
dated July 31, 1826, filed September 4, 1826

In the name of God Amen I Josiah Boring of Baltimore County and State of Maryland 
being weak in body but of sound disposing mind and memory thanks be to Almighty God 
for the same, and calling to mind the uncertainty of this present life do make and ordain 
this my last will and testament, in manner and form following. viz; First, I commend my 
soul into the hands of Almighty God in hopes of his acceptance thereof through the infinite 
satisfaction of Jesus Christ my most compassionate Savior, and my body to the Earth to be 
decently buried at the discretion of my executrix hereafter named, and as for my wordly 
estate which God of his mercy hath been pleased to bestow upon me, I give devise and 
bequeath as follows. viz; 

I give devise and bequeath unto my loving wife Sarah Boreing all my personal estate, to be 
at her own disposal. Also I give devise and bequeath unto my said wife the use and profit 
of all my real estate for and during her natural life, or widowhood, which shall first 
terminate. And after the termination of my said wifes life, or widowhood.--

I give devise and bequeath unto my two sons, William Henry Boreing and John Talbot 
Boreing all my real estate (except what is hereafter mentioned) to them their heirs and 
assigns forever and in case either of my two sons should die without heirs before they 
become possessed of said land, my will is that his part of land shall decend to his brother 
his heirs and assigns forever.

Item. I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Ann Boreing after her mothers 
death or termination of widowhood six acres of land (so laid off as to include the dwelling 
house, other buildings and spring) whereon I now dwell to her her heirs and assigns 
forever. 

Also I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my loving wife Sarah Boreing my whole 
and sole executrix of this my last will and testament, both to collect all debts due me and 
to pay all that I may justly owe and I hereby impower her so to do, without taking out any 
letters testamentary on my said estate it being my will and desire that none should be taken 
or granted, thereon, and I hereby publish, pronounce and declare this and none other to be 
my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed 
my seal this thiry first day of July Anno domini Eighteen hundred and twenty six.

Baltimore Co, To: - On the 4th day of September 1826 came Robert Bennett and Uriah 
Phillips two of the subscribing witnesses to the aforegoing last will and testament of Josiah 
Boring late of said County deceased and made oath on the holy evangely of Almighty God 
that they did see the testator sign and seal this will that they heard him publish pronounce 
and declare the same to be his last will and Testament that , at the time of his so doing he 
was to the best of their apprehension of sound and disposing mind memory and 
understanding and that they together with Elijah Robosson the other subscribing witness 
thereto subscribed their names as witnesses to this will in his presence at his request and in 
the presence of each other. Sworn to in open court.
