Last Will and Testament of JOHN FOOS of Baltimore County
Proved 8 Sept 1821

Note: John Foos was born 1780, and died on 21 Aug 1821. He died leaving a wife 
and 10 children, 9 were minors under the age of 21.)

In the name of God, Amen. I, John Foos, of Baltimore County, State of Maryland, 
being sick and weak of Body, but of sound and perfect mind and memory and 
knowing the certainty of death and the uncertainty of this life, do make this my 
last will and testament. 

Item - First and Principally, I recommend my soul to God who gave it and by body 
to the Earth from whence it came and to be buried in a christian like manner at 
the discretion of my executors, hereafter mentioned, and as to what worldly good 
it had pleased God to bestow on me, I give and bequeath in the manner following 
viz. 

Item - I bequeath unto my beloved wife, Hannah Foos, all my right title, 
interest, claim, and demand unto all my worldly property on earth during her 
natural life. And after her death, I will and direct an equal distribution among 
my children, their executors, administrators, and assigns. 

I will and bequeath unto my wife, Hannah Foos, to be my executrix and 
administrator.

Baltimore County 
On the 8th day of September 1821 came Augustin Porter and on the 12th day of 
October in the year aforesaid came William Flick, two of the subscribing 
witnesses to the aforegoing last will and testament of John Foos, late of said 
County, deceased, and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that they 
did see the testator sign and seal this will, that they heard him publish, 
pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and testament, that at the 
time of his so doing, he was, to the best of their apprehensions, of sound 
disposing mind, memory and understanding and that they, together with John 
Smith, the other subscribing evidence thereto subscribed their names as 
witnesses to this will in his presence at his request and in the presence of 
each other. Sworn to in open court
