Will of William C. Gent of Baltimore Co., dtd 20 Dec 1870

I give and devise unto my son, ALFRED J, GENT, all that farm situate in the County 
aforesaid called had known by the name of Molly's & Sally's Delight, in trust, however, for 
the use of my grandson, ORRICK GENT, the son of JOHN R. GENT, the said Orrick to 
have possession of and occupy said farm, paying however to said Alfred Gent for the use 
of my said son John R. Gent the sum of $300.00 annually during the life of the said John 
R. Gent. And after the death of said John R. Gent, then I devise said farm to said Orrick 
Gent in fee; but if the said Orrick Gent should depart this life without issue living at the 
time of his death, the I give and devise the said farm in fee to the youngest son of said 
Alfred J. Gent and the youngest son of William Gent, William Thomas Gent his son, 
respectively, who may be such youngest sons of said Alfred J. Gent and William Gent at 
the time of the death of said Orrick gent, the said youngest sons to have same in equal 
shares.

I give and devise to my son, JOSHUA GENT, during his natural life all that farm situated 
in the County aforesaid and known as the Green Spring Farm and which was purchased by 
me from Thornton Poole, and after the death of said Joshua Gent, I give and devise the 
same to such children of the said Joshua Gent as shall attain the age of 21 years and their 
heirs and assigns; but should none of his said children attain the said age of 21 years, then 
I give and devise the said Green Spring Farm to the male issue of Alfred J. Gent and 
William Gent, their heirs and assigns, forever, as tenants in common.

I give and devise to my son, William Gent and his wife Martha Gent during their lives and 
the life of the survivor of them, my farm known by the name of SEPSESFTOWN 
ENLARGED, and after the death of the survivor of them, I give and devise said farm to 
JOHN G. GENT and HERBERT GENT, sons of said William Gent, in fee simple, as 
tenants in common.

I give and devise my aforesaid son, JOSHUA GENT, during his life, a lot of land lying 
near the said Green Spring Farm and after his death, to such of the children of said Joshua 
Gent as shall attain the age of 21 years, their heirs and assigns; but should none of the 
children of the said Joshua Gent attain to the age of 21 years, I give and devise said lot to 
the male issue of Alfred J. Gent, in fee simple.

I give and devise to my daughter, MARTHA HIPSLEY, during her natural life my farm 
known by the name of Bring Me Home, and after her death, I give and devise to her son, 
William R. Hiplsey and her daughter, MARY HIPSLEY, share and share alike, as tenants 
in common, in fee.

I give and devise unto my daughter, ELLEN M. GRIFFITH, during her natural life my 
farm known as Leaf Farm and crops and also another lot of land known as Parker Lot. 
Also one other lot containing 30 acres of land and which was purchased from Dr. Cole; 
and after the death of said Ellen M. Griffith, I give and devise the Leaf Farm to her sons, 
ISAAC GRIFFITH and WILLIAM THOMAS GRIFFITH, in fee; and to her daughter, 
MARY GRIFFITH, in fee, the lot called Parker Lot; and to her son, WILLIAM 
THOMAS GRIFFITH, in fee , the 30 acre lot which was purchased from Dr. Cole as 
aforesaid, in fee.

I give and devise to the youngest son of said ALFRED J. GENT and the youngest son of 
WILLIAM GENT which may be respectively living at the time of the death of my 
daughter, MARY ANN WILDERSON, and to their heirs and assigns, as tenants in 
common, my farm known as part of Lyon's Den, and hereby will and direct that during the 
minority of said youngest sons of Alfred and William respectively, no wood nor timber 
shall be cut or taken from said farm except for the use of the said farm for building thereon 
or for purchasing lime for the use of said time.

I give, devise and bequeath to my daughter, MARY ANN WILDERSON, $300.00 a year 
during her life, to be paid by my son, Alfred J. Gent, to her for her sole and separate use as 
a (feme sole). ( That term means to her individually, without under any control of her 
husband.)

I give and bequeath to REMINGTON WILDERSON and KATE WILDERSON $300.00 
each, to be paid to them by my said son, Alfred J. Gent, at the death of said Mary Ann 
Wilderson.

I give and bequeath to JOSEPH GENT $1 to be paid by said Alfred J. Gent after my 
death.

I give and bequeath to WILLIAM C. GENT, son of said JOSEPH GENT, $400.00 to be 
paid to him by my said son, Alfred J. Gent, at the time of my death.

I give land bequeath to ELLEN HIPSLEY, daughter of said Martha HIPSLEY, one bed, 
bedstead and bedding for the same; also one horse saddle and bridle.

I give and devise to my son, THOMAS G. GENT, $1, to be paid by my son, Alfred J. 
Gent, at the time of my death.

I give and bequeath to ELLEN M. GRIFFITH, one bed, bedstead and bedding for the 
same, and also six chairs and two settees with plush bottoms.

I give and devise to my son, ALFRED J. GENT, during his life, the farm on which I now 
reside known by the name Gunpowder or Cob Gist's old farm, also one lot of land 
containing 20 acres purchased by me from Dr. Issac Cole; land after his death, to his 
children then living, in fee simple, but it is my will that his daughter, MARY GENT, shall 
take twice as much as either of his other children.

I also give, bequeath and devise to said ALFRED J. GENT all the rest and residue of my 
property, of whatever kind or description, not hereinbefore
