Last Will & Testament of William Harvey of Baltimore County
dated 17 Jan 1767; proved 14 Jan 1774 

In the Name of God Amen. I William Harvey of Baltimore County in the province of 
Maryland being in perfect Mind and memory thanks be to Almighty God therefore, but 
calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed unto all men 
once to die do make and ordain this my last Will & Testament in manner & Form 
following That is to say Imprimis I recommend my soul to Almighty God who gave it 
hoping by the meritorious Death & passion of my blessed Saviour to Obtain remission of 
all my sins & my Body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my 
Executors and as to what worldly Goods it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I dispose 
of the same in the following manner.

Item I give and bequeath unto my son William Harvey one Hundred & Eighty Acres of 
Land on which I now dwell. 

Item I give & bequeath unto my son John Harvey Fifty three Acres of said Land. 

Item I give & bequeath unto my dearly beloved Wife over and above what she may legally 
claim, One negro man named Hazard and also one good Feather Bed & Furniture and also 
I give & bequeath unto my sd Wife Twenty dollars and also the Meat & Corn that is now 
provided for this Year. 

And be it remembered that my Will is that the Beds & rugs which my sons Thomas & 
William before mentioned have had be looked upon as part of their respective Legacies. 
And as to the residue of my personal Estate my Will is that it equally divided among all my 
Children. And I do hereby constitute & appoint my dearly beloved Wife Margaret Harvey 
& my aforesaid son William Harvey the sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament 
having no other in the World -- In Witness whereof I hereunto set my Hand & affixed my 
seal this seventeenth day of January Seventeen Hundred & Sixty Seven.

Baltimore County SS. On the 14th day of January 1774 Came George Risteau and Neal 
Lamont two of the Evidences to the within last Will and Testament of William Harvey late 
of Baltimore County deceased and severally made Oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty 
God that they saw the Testator sign & seal and heard him publish pronounce & declare the 
same to be his last Will and Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best 
of their several Apprehensions of sound and disposing mind memory & understanding and 
that they severally subscribed their names as Witnesses thereto in his presence and at his 
request. Afterwards to Wit on the 27th day of the said month of January came William 
Isgrig the other subscribing Evidence who being duly sworn on the Holy Evangels of 
Almighty God deposeth & declareth that the said William Harvey requested this deponent 
to subscribe his name as a Witness to the within Writing and that he accordingly did sign 
his name thereto as a Witness in the presence of the said William Harvey who was at that 
time according to the best of this deponents judgement sound mind memory and 
understanding. Sworn to before & certified by me the subscriber deputy Commissary of 
the County aforesaid.
