All Rights Reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/mdfiles.htm ********************************************************* Will of Matthew Hunt Proved Baltimore County, January 15, 1861 In the name of God amen, Matthew Hunt of Baltimore County, state of Maryland, being sick and weak in body But of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, considering the certainty of death and ?? of the time thereof and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me home. I therefore make and publish this my last will and testament in ?? and form following, that I first and principally commit my soul into the hands of almighty God and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executor hereinafter named and after my debts and funeral charges are paid I devise and bequeath as follows: Item: I give and devise unto my wife Nellie Hunt her bed and bedding and all the rest of the furniture about the house and all cleaned or chaffed grain about the house and barn and 1/3 of the wheat whether thrashed or not thrashed. Item: I will and direct that the remainder of my personal and my real property, )saving 42 acres ground where the grave yard now is and an outlet there from) be sold by my executor hereinafter named and the proceeds of the sale of the same divided as follows; Item: I divide and bequeath all the rest and residue of the proceeds of the sales of my estate both real and personal to be equally divided among my 10 children. Julia Ann Morris, William Hunt, Temperance Wilson, John W. Hunt, Sara Ruhl, Hannah Rosier, Thomas W. Hunt, Nancy Macabee, Elizabeth Knauwissur?? and Joshua Hunt. in equal proportions to have and share alike subject to the following provision to wit: That any sum or sums of money which have been paid by my son Thomas W. Hunt to or for the use of my son-in-law Emanuel Wilson should be deducted out of the above main share of my daughter Temperance Wilson and such shall be paid to my son Thomas W. Hunt in addition to his above named equal share and that the sum of $50.00 be deducted from the above mentioned share of my son John Hunt and retained in the hands of my executor for the use of my grandson William Wiley Hunt son of my said son John Hunt until said William Wiley shall arrive at the age of 21 years at which time the said sum of $50.00 shall be paid over to said William Wiley Hunt. Item: I will and direct that my wife Nelly Hunt have the privilege of occupying the house and premises for the space of 6 months after my decease. And lastly, I do hereby and ? appoint my son-in-law Lawrence Morris to be sole executor of this my last will and testament with full power to sell my real estate and to make conveyances for the same by deed or deeds to the purchasers thereof. Said deed or deeds to be as full and valid as my deed or deeds could myself make and ratify and confirm this and none other to be my last will and testament in testimony whereof and hereunto set my hand and affix my seal the 1st day of December,1860.
