These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations. ************************************************************************ Will of Robert Mays of Baltimore Co., dtd 8 March 1854 The will of Robert Mays is dated 8 March 1854 and was proved 18 January 1859: In the name of GodAmen, I Robert Mays of Baltimore County, and state of Maryland, being of sound and perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, in manner and form folllowing: (that is to say) After my debts and funneral expenses are paid; I give and bequeath to my wife Sarah Mays, one third of my Personal Estat, the other two thirds of my said personal estate to be equally divided between my sons and daughters. viz. Jehu Mays, Thomas Mays, Rachel Mays, Hannah Bull, wife of Nicholas Bull, and Mary Cooper, wife of John Cooper. Item: I give and bequeath to my two sons, the said Jehu Mays and Thomas Mays, their heirs and assigns forever, all my real Estate of every description, to be equally divided between them, lying and being in the County and State aforesaid; (with this Proviso) that they the said Jehu Mays and Thomas Mays, pay to my said daughter Rachel Mays fifty dollars in two years after my decease; to my said daughter Hannah Bull, wife of the said Nicholas Bull, fifty dollars in two years after my decease, and to my said daughter Mary Cooper, wife of the said Thomas Cooper, fifty dollars in two years agter my decease. And I hereby appoint my said son Thomas Mays and Daniel B. Wilhelm the sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this Eigth day of March in the year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty four His Robert Mays Mark Signn'd, Sealed published and declared by the above named Robert Mays, to be his last Will and Testament, in presence of us, who have hereto subscribed our names as witnesses in presence of the Testator: Nelson Culling, Henry Shew, Joseph Cooper Baltimore County SS On this 18th day of January 1859, came Nelson Culling, and Joseph Cooper, two of the subscribing witnesses ro the foregoing Last Will and Testament of Robert Mays, late of said County, deceased, and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that they did see the Testator sign and seal This Will that they heard him publish, pronounce, and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament thst st the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehension of sound and disposing mind, memory, and understanding, and that they together with Henry Shew subscribed in the presence of each other. Note the Testator did not mention his eldest son Abraham/Abrum in his will, he presumably already had gotten his share.
