Will of John Zimmerman of Baltimore Co., dated 6 March 1854

In the name of God Amen, I John Zimmermon Senior of Baltimore County and State of 
Maryland being weak and infirm in body but of Sound and perfect mind, memory, and 
understanding considering the Certainty of death , and the uncertainty of the time thereof 
and being desirous to Settle my Worldly Affairs and thereby be the Better prepared to 
leasve this World when It shall please God to call me hence do therefore make and publish 
this my last Will and Testament in manner and form folowing, that is to say first and 
principally I commit my Soul Into the hands of Almighty God and my Body to the earth to 
be decently Buried at the descreation of my executor herein after named and aft my Debts 
and funeral charges are paid, I devise and bequeath as follows:

Item, I give and Bequeath unto my loving wife Catharine Zimmermon all my Estate, both 
real and personal During her natural life out of the proceeds of which she must pay my 
Debts, excepting So much of the real Estate as may enable her to pay all claim against me 
and to enable her to pay a certain mortgage heretofore given my me to a certain Kinsey 
Worthington of Baltimore County for the ssun of three hundred fifty Dollars for which to 
enable her to pay said mortgage amd debts she may sell and convey a part of my real 
Estate that is to say a part of a Tract of land lying in Baltimore County called Shtlzes Deer 
Park Containing about Six acres and if that should not be Sufficient to pay the before 
mentioned mortgage and Debts, She may Sell and Convey as much of the residue of my 
real estate as may enable her to, The same it being a part of a tract of Land lying in 
Baltimore County called Zimmermons Venture which is Containing SEventy-nine and a 
half acres of land more or less. 

My Will is that after the death of my wife, Catharine Zimmermon that all my real estate 
that shall then be left Shall be Sold at Public Sale and the money arising from said sale to 
be equally divided between my DAughter Elizabeth Davis and my five grandchildren, 
namely: Henry Zimmermon, Catharine Zimmermon, Nelson Zimmermon, Elizabeth 
Zimmermon and Dianah R. Zimmermon that is to say my daughter Elizabeth one half of 
said Estate and the other half to be ....

... hereby appoint my loving wife Catharine Zimmermon to be Sole Executor of this my 
last will and Testament Revoking and annulling all and every other Will by me heretofore 
made and Confirming this and none other to be my last Will and Testament In Witness 
where of I have hererunto set my hand and affixed my seal this Sixth Day of March in the 
year of our Lord eighteen hundred amd fifty four

Signed Sealed and Published in presence of us the undersigned by John Zimmerman the 
before mentioned Testator as and for his last Will and Testament. Who at his request and 
in his presence and in the presence of each other have ssubscribed our names as Witesses 
thereto:

On this 2d day of May 1854 came Enoch Dorsey and Thomas T. Nelson Subscribing 
Witnesses to the aforegoing Last Will and Testament of John Zimmerman, late of said 
County deceased and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that they did See 
the Testator Sign and Seal this Will, that they heard him publish, pronounce and declare 
the same to be his last Will and Testament that at the time of so doing he was to rhe best 
of their apprehension of Sound and disposing mind, memory, and understanding and that 
they together with Benjamin Goodwin Subscribed their names as Witnesses to this Will in 
his presence at his request and in the prsence of each other.
