Sherwood, his wife Elizabeth, and 4 of their children are buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Baltimore, MD. Unfortunately, I couldn¹t locate the stone bearing the inscription recorded in the Bible. Thomas G. Sherwood came to Baltimore from Talbot County about 1824. He was a carpenter by trade and a devout Methodist as were his mother Alice, his siblings, and his immediate descendants. His son, the second Charles Sherwood, died of disease at Camp A Hospital, Frederick, MD on 30 December 1862 while serving in the Union Army, Purnell¹s Legion. Thomas N. Sherwood and his wife Anna (daughter of William Marcellus Caples & Eliza Hook) are buried in Baltimore Cemetery with the children who died young. Thomas N. Sherwood was a carpenter. He served in the Union Army and was wounded and captured at Front Royal, VA. As a result of injuries and disease that made it impossible for him to do manual labor, Thomas received an Invalid pension. The surviving children of Thomas and Anna Sherwood Agnes Sherwood married George Washington Armiger (died 1941), a Prince George¹s County farmer. She and and her husband are buried in St John¹s Churchyard, Beltsville, MD. George had a large farm near the church. Ira P. Sherwood married Elisabeth Mary (daughter of Carl Heinrich Reuwer & Maria Ellinghaus, 1871-1947) in Baltimore about 1904. They are buried in New Cathedral Cemetery, Baltimore, MD. Ira worked for the Baltimore Herald. They had one daughter, Anna Elisabeth Sherwood, born in Baltimore on 24 September 1906. Anna married Kenneth Ernest Downing in Prince George¹s County on 12 December 1935. Harry S. Sherwood married Mary Grace Hausman on 26 December 1906 in Baltimore. No issue. They are buried in Louden Park Cemetery, Baltimore, MD. Harry was a well known reporter for the Baltimore Sun. Frank M. Sherwood married Clara Glover on 26 October 1907. They had 2 children: Edwin and Betty. Frank was a captain in the U.S. Marines. He and Clara are buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Although their names are not included in the Bible, Thomas G. Sherwood had two brothers: William and Richard Sherwood. William Sherwood was born in Talbot County about 1808 and died in Baltimore between 1860 and 1868. He married Mary Rebecca Richardson in Baltimore on 7 March 1839. He was a shoemaker. He and Mary had 4 Children: Mary E. Sherwood (abt 1840 - 4 April 1914), married John W. Allen (d 28 Nov 1895) William H. Sherwood (abt 1843 -- after 1868). Anna R. Sherwood (abt 1847 -- after 1868) Laura Jane Sherwood (24 Jan 1851 - 7 Dec 1925), married Thomas F. Hartlove (died 9 Sep 1933. At least one child Bertie Hartlove (1 Feb 1844 - 20 Oct 1973). William Sherwood¹s widow, Mary R. Sherwood, is buried in Mount Olivet, as are Mary and John Allen, and Laura, Thomas, and Bertie Hartlove. Thomas G. Sherwood¹s brother, Richard Sherwood, was born Sep 1812 in Talbot County and died in Baltimore 18 April 1873. Richard married Margaret Carns 17 March 1814 in PA -- 28 Nov 1884 in Harford County). Richard was a carpenter first, then a shop keeper on East Baltimore Street. He and Margaret had four known children; Alice, Harry, and Susan died in childhood. Margaretta (1842-29 Aug 1912) married first William Wells (died 15 May 1869) and second Rev Randolph R. Murphy (died 22 Aug 1903). Their son Vernon Murphy was alive in 1912. Richard and his family are buried in Greenmount Cemetery, Baltimore, MD. Like Richard and William, Thomas G. Sherwood¹s sister Ann was not mentioned in the family Bible. Ann was born in Talbot County about 1810. On 5 October 1850, Ann married Andrew Sullivan (died Feb 1856) in Talbot County. She was Andrew¹s second wife, not the mother of his children. On the 1860 Queen Anne census Ann Sullivan, by then a widow, was living with Andrew Callahan (age 52) his wife Elizabeth, nee Williams (age 37), Alexander Hopkins (age 12) and Anthony Richardson (age 12). Ann died intestate in Talbot County in 1868. Named as heirs were her sister Elizabeth, wife of William Price; Thomas N. Sherwood, son of her deceased brother Thomas G. Sherwood; Mary, wife of John Allen, William, Anna R., and Laura J. Sherwood, children of her deceased brother William Sherwood, and her brother Richard Sherwood who administered Ann¹s small estate. Elizabeth Ann Sherwood¹s marriage to William Price was noted in the family Bible, but her death was not recorded. Elizabeth Price died at the Methodist Home for the aged in Baltimore on 7 Jan 1895. She and her husband William are buried in the Clynamalira Methodist Churchyard in Monkton, MD.
