Hannah Simms, a well known and respected colored woman who lived near Hereford, 7th district, died one day this week, aged about 75 years. Before the Civil War she was a slave to the late Martin Bacon, grandfather of fMr. Lewis M. Bacon. She was a highly valued servant in the family of the late John Bacon and continued to live with him up to the time of his death. Hannah's husband died many years ago.
